'WEED: The CBD Secret is Out,' A CNN Report by Dr. Sanjay Gupta

For years, many medical professionals and certain prominent media personalities have championed the potential of CBD. CNN’s Emmy-winning chief medical correspondent, neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta, has become a vocal advocate for the use of CBD and other cannabis products. In 2013 he hosted an hour-long CNN special on the medicinal potential of CBD, cannabis, and marijuana to fight everything from rare and debilitating seizure disorders in adults and children, and even to kill cancer sells.

In this special Gupta was righting a wrong and exploring the incredible potential of the marijuana plant that up until then he had dismissed as not medically beneficial and perhaps even dangerous. In 2009 he even wrote a piece in Time Magazine on why he would vote no on medical marijuana. He would later write an article for CNN rescinding his earlier position in detail. Gupta says:

"I didn't look hard enough, until now. I didn't look far enough. I didn't review papers from smaller labs in other countries doing some remarkable research, and I was too dismissive of the loud chorus of legitimate patients whose symptoms improved on cannabis."

In 'WEED: The CBD Secret is Out' Gupta explores how marijuana and CBD work on the brain, how both are already being used in modern medicine, how they might be used in the future, and the complicated path to national marijuana legalization.
