CBD Makes Its Way Into Protein Supplements
New products seek to expand the CBD wellness market by combining the popular extract with market-friendly protein supplements. WillPower Products recently announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign for ReGenPCR, a new performance product infused with industrial hemp. Seeing as CBD is fast taking over the health and wellness sector populated by millennials, moms, and entrepreneurs, the combination looks to be an ideal move.
The new supplement uses a grass-fed whey protein blend and is available in cinnamon, cocoa, and vanilla flavors. ReGenPCR is a full-spectrum product containing all of the naturally occurring phytocannabinoids found in the plant. The company said in a statement that ReGen is made up of 20g grass fed whey, 20 mg of CBD, and 6g of BCAA’s, with hemp sourced directly from Colorado.
"With the rise in popularity in CBD products, we have reached an important milestone in the sports and fitness health industry by introducing the first phytocannabinoid industrial hemp oil infused protein powder to market,” said WillPower Founder Will Carr. “We are dedicated and committed to bringing the highest quality industrial hemp sports and fitness dietary supplements to market.”
WillPower is not the only company combining CBD with protein supplements. MGC Pharmaceuticals recently launched a line of CBD and hemp-enhanced vegan products including four supplements and three food grade products. The goal of these products, which come in flavors such as forest fruit, blueberry, and vanilla, is to aid the immune system, improve stress relief, and help maintain muscle and bones.
“MGC’s Nutraceuticals range taps into the large and growing health supplement market, providing a CBD and hemp protein-based range of products to consumers that believe in the health benefits derived from CBD and hemp,” said MGC co-founder and CEO Roby Zomer. “Our expansion into this complementary market leverages our existing capabilities… meaning we have been able to develop an entirely new range of products for an entirely new market, with minimal additional investment.”
In fact, CBD is now seen by many as a daily supplement, similar to a protein shake or a vitamin. An article in The Chalkboard recently called CBD something to be taken every day to take care of one’s body.
“We like to think of CBD like a vitamin,” said the piece in The Chalkboard. “For example, we’re born with calcium in our bones, and as we age, our natural reserves of calcium deplete. Much in the same way that we’re encouraged to start taking calcium supplements to keep our bones strong, we also need to supplement our natural reserves of CBD as we get older to help keep our bodies in balance.”
This past year, WillPower Products announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign for ReGenPCR. The company was initially denied by Kickstarter, so they pushed forward and decided to go ahead with their own crowdfunding campaign. This one is exclusive to online consumers. To entice donors, WillPower is giving away extras to help raise the cash.
